IT Governance

In the course of the past years, the COBIT framework has established itself as world-wide Best Practice for the revision of IT infrastructures (COBIT = Control Objectives for IT and related Technology). COBIT was first published in 1996 and is edited by the American IT Governance Institute (ITGI) adn the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

This is a framework for IT Governance and IT Revision consisting of a sequence of publications complementing each other.

COBIT describes 34 IT processes, or High Level control goals respectively, as well as 318 detailed control goals.

COBIT divides the control goals and processes into four so-called "domains":

Domain 1:  IT Planning and Organization

Domain 2:  Acquisition and Implementation

Domain 3:  IT Delivery and Support

Domain 4:  Monitoring and Evaluation
